how the hell did the mayor make it and i died
not even a heroic death

couldnt be a just death either
unless paradox space is using my life in exchange for everyone elses
so when do i wake up?

[for anyone that happens to walk by Dave's room, he'll be muttering this all to himself as he types it]

Well. If you must. [He tries not to be ruffled, but only succeeds in sounding vaguely miffed.] And you are?

Of course it's not permanent. We don't intend to keep you here forever, my boy, simply until you've found some peace. Why should this be less plausible than your, that is, your apocalyptic game, Heretical as it may be?

Hardly. [There's a faint sniff. Aziraphale had honestly been quite surprised at the formation of organized religion, after everything, but he doesn't want to go into his angelic nature.] You needn't be concerned on that front, I'm simply saying, if that's when you're used to then this can't be altogether a shock.

You'll have to continue being shocked, then, I suppose.

In the meantime, perhaps you'd like more of an explanation? I do know what I'm doing here.

You're here to learn whatever lesson you didn't manage to learn in life, [he says pleasantly.] Once you do that, you'll move on. To have another chance, or to start over.

Well, it's not much of a riddle, is it? I'm certain that's how it works. Any mysteriousness of your task must come from self-denial.

[This is a potentially rude statement that he says with all benign thoughtfulness.]

I don't know, [he says, suddenly dry and almost faintly snarky.] I must say that my track record with those that wear sunglasses would suggest that you are.
storesbooks: (Well I needed the tea.)

It was much less a comment on you then it was on a dear friend of mine. He insists on wearing them.

[A sniff.] I presume that he is. He prides himself on being 'cool'.

There's a Bentley and everything. [He sounds faintly disapproving.]

He is... er, demonstrably British, but I assure you that although we are the same technical age he looks much more hip than I do.

[Yes, he just used the word 'hip' seriously.]
