Dragon on Deck! [action OR prose]

[if you are awake at this hour of the night, you are going to see something really awesome... or really scary, depending on how you look at things. there's a huge red dragon flying close to the ship. It swoops around, darts up high into the sky, then back near the water. it goes forward and comes back... no matter where it goes, the dragon always returns to the ship's side.

most of you are probably wondering what this beast is doing. it can't be here to kill you, right? most of you are already dead. BUT WHO KNOWS. it could be hungry! it could just want to make trouble. or maybe it just wants to tak along.

actually, this dragon is a very restless inmate, one who's tried to keep his secret under wraps so he wouldn't scare the humans. but even his magic cannot last for a week. even he needs to stretch his wings. he won't harm you. in fact, he'll probably ignore you unless you try to hurt him.

if you're his warden, poor you. you get to explain to everyone what the hell is going on]

The longer he sits there, the more awake he becomes. And he just has a sneaking suspicion... Which is confirmed when the dragon spots him and then ever so pointedly flies off. Seems he's found England. Arthur. Whatever the fuck he wants to be called. Well, he has to land sometime, right? So Prussia is just going to make himself comfortable and wait. Hopefully he doesn't fall back asleep, though, because then Arthur will probably just sneak right past him.

No, just go to bed! England doesn't want to talk to you! You're mean and remind him of his possibly-dead boyfriend who he is responsible for teaching and shouldn't have fallen in love with in the first place!

Eventually, England does poke his head out from between the clouds. When he sees that Prussia is still lying there, he huffs indignantly, causing spirals of smoke to expel from his nostrils. Apparently they are going to try and wait each other out. This would be fun. Or not.

He's not a patient man by any stretch, but it's not like he's got anything better to do with his time right now! So when he spots that indignant dragon head peering out from the clouds, he just offers a little wave of his fingers. Doesn't matter if Arthur can see the precise motion or not, really. The entire point of moving was simply to let him know that, yes, Prussia was still awake and still watching for him.

Really, Art, might as well land and get it over with. He'll wait all night if he has to!

The dragon isn't patient either. Well, England was more patient than most dragons, if only because he'd spent a fairly long time interacting with humans. But right now, he's not patient at all. There is a part of him that really wants to talk to Prussia, but he knows if he did, he'd just be setting himself up for some epic failure.

He finally leaves the safety of the cloud, but doesn't return to the ship. Instead, England wants to show off a little, if only to tell Prussia he's not the least bit bothered by him. Which he is but Prussia doesn't have to know that! England does tricks... spins and dives, flying backwards and forwards.

Would it be considered crass of him if he were to applaud? Well, he does regardless, because he's never been too concerned about appropriate behaviour, even under the best of circumstances. And Arthur is just too much fun to mess with! So if it bothers him to see Prussia applaud all those twists and dives and rolls, then so much the better.

Because he really doesn't know how to act around Arthur without being a pest, and at least being annoying gets him noticed.

Really? There were far better ways to act around people. You didn't have to be a pest. England finally zooms right for the ship and stops with his giant head just inches away from Prussia.

"Do you mind?"

"Nope! Your flying is awesome! But your breath kinda smells, so d'you think you can back up like half a meter?" Regardless of whether Arthur actually does or not, Prussia is going to try to pet his muzzle. So cool! A real, live dragon! He wants a ride can he have a ride pleeeeaaaase?

Perhaps if he apologises for being a jerk.

England huffs smoke in Prussia's face, but all it takes is one flap from his wings to blow the smoke away. "Isn't it past your bedtime, child?" And yet he still allows the pet anyway.

He still sneezes from the smoke, but keeps petting anyways. So smooth... "I'm not a child! I'm centuries old!" Not that he's too sure on the exact number these days, but he'll come up with a good estimate if Arthur presses the point any.

"Oh, forgive me," England replies with a haughty sniff. "Your manners suggest you possess the mind of a child."

"Excuse me for deciding after a few hundred years life isn't any fun if you take it seriously." Grrr grrr stupid Arthur. Just as annoying as England! Honestly, you'd think being an awesome dragon would help remove that stick that seems lodged up England's ass. Is there any universe where England is actually sweet and cute and affectionate? Probably not.

England draws back until he's hovering alongside the ship again, but a reasonable distance away from the country. He's proud of himself for one-upping this jerk. "I'm beginning to think you don't take anything seriously."

"Well, I'm dead. So that kinda makes me not give any shits." He moves so he's sitting on the railing surrounding the deck, bare feet dangling out over the ocean. "But before... Hell yeah I took shit seriously." Prussia pauses, then snorts.

"Why'm I even bothering to explain myself to you, anyways? You're the same pompous know-it-all England is back home."

"If you don't want to talk to me, then don't," England growls. "Quite frankly, I think we'd be better off ignoring each other. Which was what I was attempting to do."

"If you wanna be ignored, then you probably shouldn't fly around as a huge damn dragon. That kinda shit is pretty noticeable, you know!"
