[At least the guy was taking being dead...well? A bit too well, if you asked him. He'd like to know a bit more - who had shot him, and why. But, that could come later.]
[He looks up, hands in his pockets. He smiles slightly as he recalls:] We didn't have anyone really guiding us. Probably would have saved a bunch of time if that were the case...
[For a short moment, his lips curl up- Not into a true smile, but more a sort of jaded amusement at that, the gesture not quite reaching the rest of his expression before fading back. How did this guy plan on guiding him when he didn't know anything about their situation himself? When he probably knew nothing about Personae, or his motivations or-- or anything aside from the name? His cynicism can't help but acknowledge that.
But he'll keep the thought to himself, instead just shaking his head. Again, there's that dry tone: ]
You think so? Someone pushing up in your business just so they can get a reward?
[He just looks at his assignment's expression. This guy really had nerve-for a second Otonashi thought about saying "screw this" and just giving up on the while thing. But giving up would mean never being able to see Kanade again. So, he just had to keep on trying.]
[but that doesn't stop him from getting just a bit angry. His voice rises from frustration:]
[The frustration risen against him seems to only bolster that cold demeanor, eyes fixing intently on Otonashi. He leaves his hands down at his side, relaxed, though his shoulders move back slightly, head cocking.]
--So you can go see your mom or girlfriend or brother or whatever. Don't forget that part.
I don't know who you are. You don't know who I am. You don't know where I'm from, what I've done, anything. And you want to stroll up here and tell me I've screwed up somehow-- when you don't know how-- And that I need to fix it for you.
What isn't a problem there?
[A short roll of the eyes, and he lifts the canned drink to his lips for a moment.] You're trying to help. I'll give you that. But you don't got a damn clue what you're doing.
[Sure, he has no way of knowing if it's true. But if he can inspire doubt in the other man he won't have to hold onto it for himself.]
[Ouch. That comment hit a nerve. He had a point though - gotta give the guy some credit...this whole situation was all kinds off messed up. And yeah-part off his own reasons for helping this jerk were for his own selfish ends....
Whatever, he totally doesn't need to deal with this right now.]II
[As he's leaving he slams the aside of the vending machine:]
You're not just doing this for me your doing it for you.
[yeah he's done for now. He starts walking , hoping to cool down before talking to this guy
[That was what he had promised: To do what he felt was right. And he had. As difficult as it was, it had been necessary. Like hell he was going to let some other dead guy tell him otherwise.]
How 'bout you think for a damn minute before you come back. [And he'll let Otonashi go. There's a whole ship that could use exploring.]
no subject
Yeah. This thing take yen, I take it? [Or not. Yeah, he's totally cool with mooching.] Or... whatever money they use on a hell-boat.
[who even knows.]
no subject
Ha, 'hell-boat'. That's a good name for it. [handing him the money:] Here.
[While Shinjiro's making his choice, more to himself:]It was probably the latter that did it.
no subject
I dunno. It was pretty quick. [and multiple point-blank shots with a fifty caliber but whatever.] Don't really matter now.
[Popping open the can, he glances up.] So did you have to go through all this obnoxious therapy crap after you kicked it?
no subject

What's your problem ? I'm only trying to help!

[His eyes narrow, watching Otonashi challengingly.]

I already did what I needed to.
