No, I'm a Warden. Whatever that means, really. I think it's very odd.
[She leans back against the railing and looks to the girl.] Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Lucy! Lucy Pevensie.
[Sorry, Willow, she isn't the most observant sometimes, and she doesn't realize she's looking her inmate right in the face!] I know it's not the best place, but it's really nice to meet you either way, I think. I always like meeting new people.
It is odd, isn't it? [Her smile wavers toward a frown. Willow's still kind of upset about being here.] I can't figure it out. I try not to trust anything where I don't know who's in charge, but Giles said... [She trails off, not sure what she's even thinking, here.]
[To be fair, Willow doesn't realize she's looking her warden right in the face, either, because she wasn't given her name. But that's all about to change as she says,] Willow Rosenberg. It's, um, nice to meet friendly people, at least? [There's a questioning, hopeful note at the end.]
[ It's the name that strikes her first and she blinks. ] O-oh. You're Willow? It's definitely nice to meet you. I always like making new friends.
[ She considers it for a moment before she holds out her hand for a shake. ] I think I'm your warden, too, so maybe... well, maybe being here won't be so bad if we already have a friend?
Y-You are? [That stops her short. Willow had been intending to be disgruntled and contrary with her Warden, to take out her dissatisfaction and grief at her separation from her friends on them. But it's a different story if it's this admittedly cute girl, who's already reminding her of a British Dawnie.]
Oh. I was all ready to hate you, and, and be disgruntled. [Her frown is more of a pout.] But you seem really sweet, so I think we do have to be friends instead. And I do want to get out of here, so I guess it's for the best.
[ She shrugs a little bit and smiles. She can tell of course that the girl was ready to see someone different, but maybe things work out this way for a reason? Lucy likes to believe that, anyway. ]
Oh, I think being friends is always a better option. It's silly to hate someone you haven't even met yet, don't you think?
No, it's... [She quiets.] Sometimes it's wrong, but it's not silly. I just don't understand why I'm here.
I don't mind making friends, I don't, but-- I thought I was doing everything right when I died. I save people, I help them! I brought Buffy back. I'm a good person.
[She actually does sound confident of that, not desperate, not trying to convince herself. Willow genuinely believes it.]
sorry for such slowness. i'm back in tagging brain now.
[ Lucy can tell, certainly, that arriving at this place has made Willow very sad, or distressed. She hates seeing anyone like that honestly and moves to hug her softly. Hugs cure everything. ]
Maybe you were doing everything fine, really. Sometimes things happen so we can learn new lessons, new things to take back to the lives we have.
[ Smiling up at her, Lucy looks back out over the ship's edge. ]
I can tell you're a good person. That has to count for something, doesn't it? So don't worry, and stop doubting yourself, it's really very silly. I promise I'll try my hardest to help you.
no problem at all!
[She'd really start to be disturbed if they were bringing people that young to be inmates.]
